MY INNER GROVE

In my painting series My Inner Grove, I explore the construction of a visual system of personal mythology as an artistic and epistemological practice. The grove does not function as a depicted landscape, but as an organizing and structuring space that becomes perceptible through the process of painting and the system of recurring motifs. The deer-like figure signifies a pre-verbal, instinctual quality, the protection of which constitutes one of the fundamental stakes of the artistic process. The calm of nature and the subtly defined, enclosed spaces create visual and spatial frameworks that stabilize the experience of presence and allow room for letting go. Within the series, myth-making does not appear as an illustrative element, but as a methodological tool that places questions of self-preservation and the maintenance of identity at the center of the investigation.

NOSTALGIA OF THE PRESENT

The main motif appearing in the paintings is a deer-like form, which in the latter works is increasingly clear, almost personified, in its surroundings, occupying a representative place on the canvas. A clear figure in its tones, a reflection of its surroundings in its colors. Existent in an undisturbed, idyllic milieu, calmly, almost motionless, with closed eyes. It appears as a single character, in a theatrically staged scene, standing out from its surroundings.

In the pictures of the Background Aesthetics series, I display various visual representations, applied in a montage-like manner. I reimagine my own and others’ photos and works, often details of these, in my paintings. I montage visual inspirations collected in a given interval – approximately 5-10 images – and thereby place them in a new context, deprived of their original meaning. I revive works created by others and myself, as an imprint of my own painting..
